‘W’ – Code W stands for water based cleaner. Fabrics with this code are the easiest fabrics to clean. This is not the same as being machine washable though! This code means you can spot clean your fabric with a water-based shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. You can use a brush to agitate the cleaner or even an upholstery attachment on a carpet cleaner. Be careful to avoid over-wetting the stain.
‘S’ – Code S stands for Solvents, and these fabrics must be dry cleaned only. You can spot clean these fabrics using a mild water-free solvent too.
‘WS’ – Water / Solvent Cleaner. Spot clean with a mild solvent, an upholstery shampoo or the foam from a mild detergent. When using a solvent or dry cleaning product, follow the instructions carefully and clean only in a well ventilated room.
‘X’ – Vacuum Only. Clean this fabric only by vacuuming or light brushing to prevent accumulation of dust and grime. Water based foam cleaners or solvent based cleaning agents of any kind may cause excessive shrinking, staining or distortion of the surface pile.
‘D’ – Dry Clean Only.
