Taking the right care of your mattress and/or foundation can help it last for many years, and continually give you a good nights sleep.

Kingsdown Mattress has over 115 years of mattress design and manufacturing expertise. They use advanced sleep science research to ensure every mattress is designed for proper postural support and long lasting comfort. But even so if you don’t take the proper care of your mattress then it will degrade more quickly over time. Follow these simple do’s and dont’s.

Do’s & Don’ts to Proper Mattress and Foundation Care

Give your sleep set time to “air” upon removal from it’s plastic packaging. Dispose of all plastic packaging as soon as possible.

Keep your sleep set clean. We recommend using a mattress pad. Bodily fluids such as perspiration will cause wear and void the warranty.

When purchasing a new mattress, replace the old foundation. An old foundation may not provide sufficient support. It may appear that your new mattress is sagging when it is really the foundation, which supports the entire mattress.

Use an appropriate bed frame and centre support for queen and king size sets. Using the right support frame will ensure your limited warranty remains in effect.

Rotate your mattress every 3 months to ensure even wear.

Use a water resistant pad or cover to minimize the possibility of stain damage to your new mattress. Notably, such stains invalidate this Limited Warranty.

Don’t place your mattress near an open flame or exposed fire. This mattress is not flame or fireproof and can ignite and/or burn if exposed to open flame or fire. When ignited, some bedding material can burn rapidly and emit smoke and hazardous gases.

Do not smoke in bed. This mattress is manufactured as required by federal law to resist, but not necessarily eliminate, ignition by smoldering cigarettes.

Do not stand or jump on your mattress. It was not build for that kind of weight concentration or abuse.

Do not allow your mattress to get wet because some upholstery materials may compress. Protect it from water or other liquids.

Do not place a board between your mattress and foundation. Your sleep set is designed specifically to provide you with proper support and the foundation plays an important role.

Do not use dry cleaning fluid of any type on your mattress. The chemicals will damage some of the construction materials and void your warranty.

Do not remove the law tag label at the end of your mattress. This serves as a means of identification to establish your warranty rights.
